Fortum Recycling & Waste has operations in the Nordics, the UK and Rwanda consisting of environmental waste management services, hazardous waste treatment and operations and maintenance expertise for powerplants as well as material recycling services including solutions for batteries, plastics, metals, and ash and slag waste streams across Europe.


About The Role

As a Senior Procurement Manager, Recycling & Waste (R&W) you will join Fortum's Corporate Procurement team and play a crucial role in strengthening our procurement function. You shall be responsible for Procurement activities within our R&W business including several different business lines in circular economy located to several countries (annual total spend > 100M€). You shall be leading a Nordic team (Finland, Sweden and Denmark) of procurement experts and work together closely with stakeholders from business and corporate procurement function.


You will play a key role in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating larger contracts, supporting and implementing investment works and identifying valuable cost-saving opportunities together with business lines. About You

To excel in this position, you should have:

  • at least 7 years of experience from procurement function
  • an academic degree in a relevant field such as technology or business
  • proven leadership experience, preferably of Nordic / international team
  • strong collaboration and project management abilities, coupled with strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • proven negotiation skills, commercial acumen, and the capacity to develop and execute strategies from scratch are essential.
  • experience in recycling business management will be advantageous
  • fluency in both oral and written English is required, Finnish, Swedish or Danish is considered as plus.
